INTERWOVEN (FUNDAMENTAL STRUCTURES)

The paintings form the series Interwoven (Fundamental Structures) were commissioned especially for the Edvard exhibition, held at Cankarjev dom, Slovenia’s main cultural centre. The exhibition was part of the Year of Edvard Ravnikar, celebrating one of the greats of Slovenian architecture. I seized the chance to delve into Ravnikar’s unique architectural elements, preserving their organic essence, valued by the architect. The irregular, uneven, and cross-placed bricks protruding from the façade cladding form a captivating decorative border. Translated onto canvas, they take on a new dimension, enhancing both material texture and construction details.
